ACTION CONTINUES IN ADULT TENNIS LEAGUE
Action continues in the 2007 USTA/VITA Chrysler Adult Mixed Doubles League throughout the Virgin Islands. Ninety-five tennis players are competing in a round-robin format of mixed doubles in the St. Thomas-St. John and the St. Croix Districts.
On St. Croix, the Cruzan Aces, led by Captain Dynel Sota, are leading in the 8.0 combined flight with a 4-0 record. The Cruzan Racquets, led by Captain Susan Armstrong, follow closely with a 3-1 record. The Hotshots, led by Captain Liz Fox, and the Spider Monkeys, led by Captain Melanie Conhoff, follow with 1-3 and 0-4 records respectfully.
In the Cruzan 7.0 combined flight The Hurricanes, led by Captain Isabel Brady, narrowly lead the Cruzan Wreakers, led by Captain Sharon Quinn. The Hurricanes have a 3-1 record while the Cruzan Wreakers have a 3-2 record. The Buccaneers, led by Captain Bob Chaput, and Mixed Troubles, led by Captain Jacqueline Mashburn, follow with 2-3 and 1-3 records respectfully.
On St. Thomas, Fenella’s Team and Megan’s Team, led by Captains Fenella Cooper and Megan Boyle respectfully, are tied at 1-1 in the 7.0 combined flight.
Competition continues in a mixed doubles round robin team format through October 21st. The championship team in the 7.0 combined flights from both the St. Croix and the St. Thomas-St. John Districts and the top two teams from the 8.0 combined flight from the St. Croix District will qualify for the Caribbean Sectional Championships to be held at the Honda Center in Bayamon, Puerto Rico, November 2-4.
