The 2006 Fall USA Team Tennis League is a six-week after school program for youth ages 6-15. The program uses a team concept that emphasizes fun, fitness, and friends. Each child is assigned to a team. Play consists of one afternoon of practice and one afternoon of match play each week from
4-5PM at the Buccaneer Hotel Tennis Club.
The White Group is for intermediate players ages 10-15 and will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays for six weeks commencing October 30th. The Red Group is for beginning players ages 6-12 and will meet Mondays and Wednesdays for six weeks commencing October 31st.
The deadline for entries is October 16th. The registration fee is $20.00 for children with a USTA membership (cards must be shown) and $35.00 for those needing current membership. Children must not arrive earlier than the scheduled time and must be picked up promptly at 5PM. Smooth soled tennis shoes must be worn. Street shoes or running shoes are not permitted. Parents must sign waivers. The program is sponsored in part by the St. Croix Tennis Foundation. Space is limited. For more information contact Don deWilde at 773-3036.

Sanction: Virgin Islands Tennis Association

Update: Note two changes have been made since the ad was published in the paper. The deadline for registration has ben extended to Tuesday, June 6th at 5:00pm. There is also a $10 fee for each additional event that a player enters. Two events would cost $25.00.

2006 St. Croix Tennis Foundation Spring Junior Tournament
May 19th - 21st, 2006, Buccaneer Tennis Club
Girls 16’s: Saphia Taylor of St. Thomas defeated Wendy Aurelein of St. Croix by default.
Girls 14’s: Top seeded Ashley Lawrence of St. Croix defeated Savannah Logan of St. Croix 6-1, 6-3. This was her second straight tournament victory of 2006.
Girls 12’s: Cajay Jacobs of St. Thomas defeated Katie Morgan of St. Croix 6-1, 6-0. Jacobs lost only two games in her three matches.
Girls 10’s: Lohra Emmanuel of St. Croix defeated Hanna Schuck of St. Croix in a one set final 6-0.
Boys 18’s: Anston St. Hilaire of St. Thomas upset top seeded Akeel Simon of St. Thomas 5-7, 6-2, 6-4.
Boys 16’s: Brian Oldfield of St. Thomas defeated Anston St. Hilaire 6-2, 6-3.
Boys 14’s: In a three hour see-saw match, Andy Feldman of St. Croix defeated Bill Byrd of St. Croix 3-6, 6-4, 6-4.
Boys 12’s: Was not played.
Boys 10’s: Jordan Lawrence of St. Croix defeated Murdo Smith of St. Croix in a one set final 6-0.
54 players participated in the largest junior tournament in the Virgin Islands in several years. The event will be used for the Virgin Islands Tennis Association junior rankings.
